California’s governor used YouTube this week to discuss the state’s budget woes. He is calling for a special election for voters to decide between tax extensions or cuts in state services. “This is a matter of we the people taking charge and voting on the most fundamental matters that affect all our lives,” Brown said in the YouTube video.
Bruce Ivins
He was a scientist at the Army’s Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases until he died of an overdose of Tylenol PM in July 2008. A report obtained by the Los Angeles Times indicates the 62-year-old Ivins “was psychologically disposed to undertake” the 2001 Anthrax mailings that killed five people following the September 11 attacks. The Expert Behavioral Analysis Panel, led by a University of Virginia psychiatrist, concluded that the evidence was so overwhelming, senior military officials could have “anticipated - and prevented” the attacks, which Ivins was suspected of, the Los Angeles paper reported.

The University of California, Los Angeles, student who posted a three-minute video criticizing Asian students on campus has apologized and announced she will no longer attend the university, student newspaper the Daily Bruin reported. Wallace posted a viral video mocking Asian students and their families and using a fake language to mock what she said was their behavior in the library. UCLA Chancellor Gene Block didn't punish Wallace, but he publicly reprimanded her speech. In a letter released to the Daily Bruin, Wallace said the video was a mistake and that death threats and public outcry led her to leave the school.
